Scheduled backups
Automatic daily backups set up in Sage 50 so nothing depends on someone remembering to click the button.
Sage · Backup & Restore
A single failed drive shouldn't be able to erase your books. We set up reliable, scheduled Sage 50 backups, move your company file safely to a new computer, and recover corrupted or failed backups. For businesses across the United States and Canada.

Back up in Sage 50 with File → Back Up (or a schedule), and restore with File → Restore. Keep a local copy plus an off-site or cloud copy, and test a restore now and then. Your company is a .SAI file plus its matching .SAJ folder — a backup safely packages both.
Sound familiar?
If two or three of these ring true, your data isn't as safe as you think — let's fix it before something goes wrong.
Backups are manual and easy to forget, or they all sit on the same computer as the live file.
You tried to restore and got an error, a version mismatch, or a file that won't open.
New PC or server and you're not sure how to move the company file across without breaking it.
The file is damaged, your last backup failed, and you need recent data back fast.
What we do
Automatic daily backups set up in Sage 50 so nothing depends on someone remembering to click the button.
A second copy kept off the machine — external drive, network, or cloud — so one failure can't take everything.
Backup, install, and restore on the new machine — data service and users configured so it opens first time.
Data-integrity checks, rebuilds, and restoring from the last good backup to get your books back.
We actually test a restore, because a backup you've never verified isn't a backup you can trust.
A simple written routine — what's backed up, how often, and where — so it keeps working after we're done.
How it works
The safe routine we set up for clients — and the same steps we follow when we recover a file.
File → Back Up creates one compressed file from your .SAI and .SAJ data. We schedule it to run automatically every day.
That backup is copied to a second location — external drive, network share, or cloud — so it survives a dead PC.
File → Restore rebuilds the company from a backup. We test it so you know recovery works before you ever need it.
Questions
In Sage 50, use File then Back Up to create a compressed backup, or set a schedule so it happens automatically. We recommend keeping copies in more than one place — a local drive plus an off-site or cloud copy — and testing a restore now and then so you know the backup actually works.
In the US edition, your Sage 50 company is a small .SAI header file plus a matching .SAJ folder that holds the actual data. Both must stay together with the same name to open the company. A backup packages them into a single compressed file you can restore later, which is safer to copy or move than the raw data folder.
The clean way is to make a full backup on the old machine, install the same Sage 50 version on the new one, then restore the backup there. We handle these moves end to end — including the data-service and user setup — so the file opens correctly and nothing is left behind.
Often, yes. We work from the most recent good backup, run Sage's data-integrity and rebuild tools, and reconstruct recent transactions where needed. Success depends on how the file was damaged, so the sooner you stop working in the file and call us, the better the outcome.
Daily for any file people post to every day, and always before a year-end close, a major update, or a data cleanup. Scheduled automatic backups plus one off-site or cloud copy is the setup we put in place for most clients so a single failed drive can never wipe out your books.
